Consultation deadline approaches

The deadline to have your say on proposals to bring the Malvern Hills Trust into the 21st century is approaching.

The Trust is encouraging people to take part in its public consultation on proposals to update the organisation’s governance arrangements before the deadline closes on the 22nd July for electronic submissions (17th July for paper copies).

Five drop-in sessions held during this consultation period have been very well attended, offering opportunities for people to discuss the proposals with staff and trustees and to find out more about why the changes are needed.

Deborah Fox, CEO said “I was delighted to meet so many people at the five Malvern Hills Trust drop-in sessions. Our staff and trustees felt the same. Over 300 people from in and around the Malverns and Callow End have shared their views with us.  This is about our proposed governance changes and we have had some highly constructive and informative conversations.

I appreciate that the consultation itself is detailed. We want to be completely open about what we are proposing.

The sensible governance changes we propose to introduce via the Parliamentary Bill will ensure MHT is placed on a sound footing that will enable it to care for the Malvern Hills and Commons well into the future. This is in accordance with its objects - to look after the land and keep it open, unenclosed and unbuilt on for the recreation of the public.

We are listening, and very much look forward to receiving your views via the consultation questionnaire. And thank you to those that have responded so far.”

Full details of the Trust’s proposals are now available on the Trust’s website as well as access to an online questionnaire to gather responses www.malvernhills.org.uk/governance-changes.

The deadline for public consultation responses is the 17th July for paper copies and 22nd July for electronic submissions.
