Well done to everyone who joined us on Tuesday to make traditional birch (besom) brooms!
In total, seven unique brooms were made by adults and children alike using materials collected from the Malvern Hills.
Due to it's success, we will be hosting another workshop on Saturday 29th April from 10am to 11:30am. Find out how to book, and more details below.
When: Saturday 29th April 10am to 11:30am
Where: Gardiner’s Quarry car park, Jubilee Drive, Malvern, WR13 6DN.
Who: Suitable for families and children aged 8+ years. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
What to bring: Please bring your own secateurs and gloves if you wish to use your own. Gloves and tools will be provided. We’ll provide the birch and everything else you’ll need to make your birch broom to take home.
Booking: Please contact our office on reception@malvernhills.org.uk to book your place. Spaces are limited so make sure you book in advance.
Cost: The event is free but to support our work, we ask for a small donation of £5 per broom which goes towards the conservation of the Malvern Hills and Commons.
The birch for your broom has been collected from Pinnacle Hill by our Conservation Volunteer team. The work to remove young birch is opening up important grassland habitats that are homes for ground nesting birds, flora and fungi. Ask us more about our conservation work and volunteering at the workshop.
