Covid update - National Lockdown

Following last night's announcement (4th January) of a new national lockdown, we have provided the following update for the Malvern Hills and Commons.

Please follow the full Government guidance to help protect yourself, your family and our local community.

Visiting the Hills and Commons

The Hills and Commons (including car parks) remain open for public access for the purposes of exercise which is permitted under the new national lockdown guidance.

The guidance states:

  • travel is permitted for the reason of outdoor exercise - "This should be done locally wherever possible, but you can travel a short distance within your area to do so if necessary (for example, to access an open space)." www.gov.uk
  • "If you need to travel you should stay local - meaning avoiding travelling outside of your village, town or the part of a city where you live" www.gov.uk

The Malvern Hills and Commons will still be here to visit later and we encourage people to follow the advice to 'Stay home, protect the NHS, and save lives'

Toilet facilities

The Trust is not responsible for the public toilets at the Wyche Cutting or British Camp, these are managed by Herefordshire Council.

Toilets at St Ann's Well remain closed whilst the cafe is closed.

Parking Passes

Parking passes (both Annual and Resident's passes) are available to purchase by email, by post and by telephone.  More information is provided on our parking pages.

Contacting the Trust

The office will be manned by a small team of staff to respond to phone calls and carry out essential day to day work.

Other staff working from home during this period, so it may take us longer to answer phone calls.

If possible, please contact the Trust via email in the first instance at info@malvernhills.org.uk (if urgent, call 01684 892002 and in an emergency always call 999).  Staff will respond to emails as soon as they are able but again, it may take longer to respond to your query than usual.  Thank you for your patience during this difficult time.

Volunteer conservation days

To protect our staff and volunteers, our scheduled volunteer conservation tasks have been cancelled until further notice.

We encourage everyone at this difficult time to follow the guidance to help slow the spread and save lives.

Further information can be found in our Covid update.
