Residents' car park passes on available from Monday

Residents’ car parking passes for the Malvern Hills Trust’s car parks on the Hills and Commons will be available to purchase from Malvern Library next week.

The Trust is working with Malvern Library to provide more opportunities and greater flexibility for people wishing to purchase their Residents’ car park passes for the Malvern Hills.

It is hoped that the Library’s evening opening times and weekend hours will make it easier and more convenient for people to purchase their park passes. Alongside the Library, Resident’s passes will also be available to purchase from Colwall Library and the Malvern Hills Trust’s offices from the 2nd March 2020.

This new partnership comes as the Tourist Information Centre ceases to sell the passes following their move to smaller premises at the Lyttelton Well Courtyard.

MORE OPTIONS FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS

Beck Baker, community and conservation officer said “We’re delighted to be working with Malvern Library to sell our car park passes this year.  The extended opening hours of the Library will offer people the chance to purchase their car park pass when it is most convenient for them before getting out and exploring the Hills and Commons.  “

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for communities from Worcestershire County Council said: “This is great news for local people and a win win situation for us.  By working with Malvern Hills Trust to offer an alternative venue to sell their car passes, we can encourage local people who may not regularly visit Malvern Library the chance to take a peek inside.

“We hope that by making it more convenient and accessible for local people to buy their resident car park passes, we can showcase the huge range of services available from the library. More people will be able to take advantage of things like adult learning courses, our business resources, and events and activities for all ages, as well as other library services such as books, ebooks, free internet and wifi access.”

The Resident’s (concessionary) car park passes are available to residents of the town of Malvern, and the parishes of Colwall, Guarlford, Malvern Wells, Mathon and West Malvern who pay a levy toward the Trust. The pass is valid from the 1st April 2020 to 31st March 2021 for £5.70.

DON'T FORGET YOUR COUNCIL TAX BILL!

Beck added “We’d like to remind people to bring their Council Tax bill, either paper or electronic copies, which details the levy to the Trust, as proof of their address.  Unfortunately, no other forms of ID will be accepted when purchasing your car parking pass and you are likely to have to come back again with the correct document.”

NOT A LOCAL RESIDENT?

An Annual Pass is available for those who live outside the levy paying areas, but are regular visitors to the hills.  An Annual Pass, valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, can be obtained from the Malvern Hills Trust’s office only for £38.00.   A pass for a second vehicle at the same household can be purchased at a reduced rate of £14.50.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

The contribution made by the public through the purchase of parking passes is an essential source of income that supports the charity’s work caring for the hills and commons.  This support helps the Malvern Hills Trust to protect the ancient archaeology, conserve the habitats and species and keep the Hills open and accessible for all to enjoy.  Find our more about our work here.

The Tourist Information Centre moved to their new location at the Lyttelton Well Courtyard in May 2018 and due to their smaller location will no longer be offering this service.
