Drivers will soon be able to make card and contactless payments when visiting the Malvern Hills.
Ten car park meters across the Malvern Hills will be upgraded with new machines by the Malvern Hills Trust.
Work to install the new machines to accept credit and debit card payments as well as cash payments will begin this week.
Duncan Bridges, CEO, said ‘We’re hoping that upgrading the machines will make it easier for visitors to the Malvern Hills with the choice of cash or contactless payments.’
All the income raised from the car park goes towards the care and conservation of the Hills and Commons which fall under the care of the Trust.
Duncan added ‘As a charity, the support we receive from visitors is essential in helping us care for this landscape. Managing the habitats, preserving archaeology and providing visitor infrastructure such as paths and car parks, all costs money and we are extremely grateful to visitors for their contributions.’
Car parks will remain open whilst this work is carried out and signage will be in place with information for visitors. MHT staff will also be patrolling the car parks following installation to offer assistance.
For frequent visitors to the Hills, parking passes are available and a discounted parking pass is available for precept payers who contribute towards the Trust. More information about the passes can be found here
