Car parks closed for fifth day

Car parks around the Hills are closed for a fifth day as one to three inches of snow and ice is still covering many of the car parks.  The hillside location of the car parks means that the sun is not reaching the ground to melt the snow and areas where vehicles have driven over has heavily compacted the ice.  In addition areas where staff have cleared the car parks has refrozen leading to more hazardous conditions, particularly for walkers and cyclists.

A small number of car parks are open, however, many including British Camp remain closed due to compacted ice and snow.  A list of MHT car parks and their condition is included below.

Beacon Road car park – Both upper and lower car parks are open.  Please access with care.
Black Hill car park – Closed
British Camp car park– Closed due to packed snow and ice.
